Greenway Bike Trail

Although its only 21 percent finished the Eastcoast Greenway Project is a cyclist's dream come true. Its a 3,000 mile off-road bike trail that starts in Calais, Maine and travels down the coast to Key West, Florida. The Eastcoast Greenway Alliance is the non-profit organization responsible for raising funds for the trail's construction. Their goal is to stitch together already existing trails to form one path connecting 25 major cities.

Critical Mass

Critical Mass is an organized bicycle ride held in various cities around the world the last Friday of each month. It is a rally designed to celebrate cycling and assert cyclists' rights to the road. What started as a small protest, on the streets of San Francisco in 1992, has become a worldwide phenomenon with participating cities in all seven continents.

Riding Manual

The Philadelphia Department of Transportation publishes an online version of Pennsylvania Bicycle Driver's Manual. The manual is an in-depth guide to bicycle riding and safety procedures. The Department of Transportation instructs cyclists to ride on the far right side of the road, always follow the flow of traffic, and obey road signs and traffic lights.

Project Topic

My semester project topic is going to center around my bicycle. I recently sold my car and now use my bicycle as my main source of transportation. Sometimes when I'm riding around the city I get bullied by the cars that are supposed to be sharing the road with me. I would like my research to focus on the city's bicycle regulations and the benefits of riding.
